Every batch. Every lot. Full transparency. We don't just claim to be clean — we prove it. Rigorously tested by globally accredited third-party laboratories and shared publicly so you can verify every result yourself.
COA report CPP5LBPC (Eurofins, Nov 2025) available for download below. All results are publicly shared — no gating, no restrictions.
When the Industry
Failed the Test,
We Stepped Up.
Consumer Reports tested 23 protein powders and found that more than 70% contained lead at or above their level of concern. Mikuna was not named in the report — but we're publishing our results anyway. Because transparency shouldn't be optional.
Mikuna results independently verified by Eurofins Scientific.

Mikuna Pure Chocho Plant Protein tests below the Prop 65, FDA limits, and Consumer Reports level of concern for all heavy metals tested. This includes lead, cadmium, arsenic, and mercury. Testing conducted by Eurofins Scientific using ICP-MS methodology, the most sensitive and accurate method available.
Independent third-party testing confirms that lectins have not been detected in any of our products. Lectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins commonly found in legumes known to cause bloating and digestive discomfort — the reason most plant proteins cause GI issues. Chocho's proprietary debittering process removes them entirely.
We test for over 50 organochlorine, organophosphate, and pyrethroid pesticides using advanced multi-residue screening. All results show no presence or detection across every tested compound. Chocho grows naturally at 11,000–14,000 ft in the Andes — its natural alkaloids repel pests, making chemical pesticides unnecessary. Full COAs available below.
Gluten concentration tested negative (<5 ppm) using an immuno-chromatographic method. Our most recent testing shows results below 3 ppm, well below the FDA threshold of 20 ppm for gluten-free labeling. Chocho is naturally gluten-free — testing confirms no cross-contamination at the ingredient level.
Independent laboratory analysis shows Mikuna Pure Chocho Plant Protein contains <20 mg/kg of oxalic acid, placing it at the very low end of the oxalate spectrum. Scientific sources include peer-reviewed food oxalate analyses published in Nutrients / PubMed Central and clinical oxalate food composition lists from academic urology programs (UCI Kidney Stone Center; Wake Forest Urology).
FODMAP refers to a group of carbohydrates that can be poorly absorbed in the small intestine and fermented by gut bacteria, potentially causing digestive symptoms. Independent laboratory testing shows that naturally occurring FODMAP-associated sugars in Mikuna Pure Chocho — including raffinose and stachyose — are present only in trace amounts, significantly lower than most legumes. Individual tolerance may vary.
Our Mikuna Chocho Plant Protein was independently tested by Eurofins Scientific using an Organic Acid Profile analysis. This panel provides a detailed breakdown of naturally occurring organic acids per 100g raw material. A serving size of Mikuna Chocho Plant Protein Pure is 39g. Full results below.
Mikuna Pure Chocho Plant Protein was independently tested by Eurofins Scientific for PFAS ("forever chemicals") using FDA-referenced analytical methods. No PFAS compounds were detected above reporting limits across all tested substances, including PFOA, PFOS, PFNA, PFHxS, PFBS, and related PFAS compounds. We proactively test for emerging contaminants — not because we're required to, but because our customers deserve to know.
Every lot is tested for consumer safety across six critical microbiological parameters:
- Total Plate Count (cfu/g) — NMT 530 CFU per gram
- Yeast & Mold — <10 CFU per gram
- E. Coli — <10 CFU per gram (Absence/g)
- Coliform (cfu/g)
- Staphylococcus aureus (cfu/g)
- Salmonella — Absence/25g
- Certified B Corporation — Highest social and environmental standards
- Certified Vegan — Vegan.org verified
- Non-GMO Project Verified — No bioengineering
- Kosher OU — Orthodox Union certified

Why We Test
Beyond the Standard.
Clean protein starts at the source. Chocho grows at 11,000–14,000 feet in Ecuador's Andes — a pristine environment that makes rigorous testing both possible to pass and our responsibility to prove.
Clean Protein.
Proven.
The cleanest plant protein on the market — verified by independent science, not marketing. Ready to try it?
